Am I too late to wish you a happy new year? I hope not! I hope you had a lovely Christmas break and that you spent it with those you love. Also, thank you for joining me in 2019. If I’m very honest, I didn’t think I’d still be here. I thought this would be one of those things that I would give up a long time ago, and while I could do better in terms of consistency, I am proud that I have kept it going.
So it’s one week into the new year. Do you have some resolutions, or have you set intentions or #goals (if that’s still a thing) for this year? How’s that going so far and what are you actively doing to make those goals a reality? I am an advocate for having a vision board, writing your vision down together with actions and timelines and then actively pursuing them.
“The man without a purpose is like a ship without a rudder—a waif, a nothing, a no man. Have a purpose in life, and, having it, throw such strength of mind and muscle into your work as God has given you.” — Thomas Carlyle
I bet a lot of you have already done this – well done. I am a bit late to writing mine down but working on it. My question to you is did you put God first as you drew up your plans? Did you submit your desires, ideas, dreams to God? Does your vision board reflect God’s vision?
“Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].” Proverbs 16:3 AMP
“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on Him to guide you, and He will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with Him in whatever you do, and He will lead you wherever you go. Don’t think for a moment that you know it all, for wisdom comes when you adore Him with undivided devotion and avoid everything that’s wrong.” Proverbs 3:5-7 TPT
Committing our plans to God doesn’t necessarily constitute asking for permission. He has given you the freedom to plan. When we commit our plans to God we are telling Him that we trust that He knows best, we know that He has our back, we are guaranteed that His will is perfect and we are secure in the knowledge that His heart for us is to do us good. We give ourselves the opportunity to be led by the Spirit confident that He knows the future and that His ways are much higher than ours.
So my challenge to you today, is to put God first. Put Him ahead of your plans, ideas, wishes, dreams, intentions, #goals. Let Him direct you and as He does, find a scripture/verse that supports that (new/revised) goal. Use those scriptures as a reminder of why you are doing what you are doing. Use them in time of prayer or discouragement to claim the promises of God.
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken and will He not make it good and fulfill it?” Numbers 23:19 AMP
You can rest assured that if you have given God room in your plans, that He will bring them all to pass.
“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.” Ephesians 3:20 TPT
Have a wonderful 2019!
xoxo
PS: My husband and I are doing the Daniel Fast through out January. Check out these previous blog posts about prayer and fasting. Also follow me on Instagram where I’m sharing Scriptures and what we are eating. I will also be putting up meal plans and anything that I feel the Lord is saying during this time on the blog, so look out for that.
