Essential Shoes Every Woman Should Own
Happy hump day!
It’s been a while since I was last here and I thought that as the season has changed (and it finally looks like the weather has caught up), that it was time to talk about my favourite thing. Shoes!! Although I have a slight obsession with heels, this blog post will focus on what I think is essential in every woman’s wardrobe. Three types of shoes I will never suggest that anyone wears is a kitten heel, thong heeled sandals and chunky trainers. Yuck, just yuck!! No one needs that kind of negativity in their lives.
Flats
Basic, easy to throw on and comfortable, flats can typically go with everything, I have several styles, from ballet flats to loafers and mules. Have some very basic casual ones to more dressy ones, in black, nude and metallic that can take you anywhere from the corner shop, to work, to a night out with the girls.
Court shoes
Court shoes are a staple and versatile and can be worn in a formal set up (the board room or other formal events) or used to elevating the most casual outfit (t-shirt and jeans). I prefer a pointed toe and a stiletto heel as I feel they are more polished and modern. At the most basic level, a couple of pairs in black and nude will suit almost any outfit.
Sneakers
Sneakers are great in every season. White sneakers are a versatile shoe as are a pair of cute athletic shoes can be worn for a workout or with a pair of jeans/leggings to run around and do errands. White sneakers can dress down smarter clothes to create a street style look.
Ankle boots
I have the skinniest ankles known to man. Admittedly, I don’t own a lot of ankle boots because I look a bit silly, but thankfully the sock boot is on trend so my skinny ankles are now catered for! Like the court shoe, I believe a nice pointed toe ankle/shoe boot in black and camel (or even gold/silver) can be dressed up or down.
Flat sandals
Who doesn’t love a good flat sandal during the summer months? If your feet swell like mine, a sandal is a welcome relief. Get yourself pairs in tan, gold, white which will be easy to pair with any summer outfit – including loose fitting sun dresses, wide-leg palazzo pants, shorts etc.
Evening/ Party Shoes
Every woman needs a pair of shoes for cocktail parties or very formal occasions. Finish your little black dress with a metallic, or embellished pointed court shoes or a high heeled black or nude open-toed dressy ankle strap sandals for an easy party or evening look.
Wedges
I love a good wedge for the spring and summer months. Wedges are pretty casual in my opinion but are great for those who find stilettos uncomfortable. These can be worn, with almost anything, including jeans and maxi dresses and from a summer lunch to date night.
Knee high/Over the knee boots
These are a necessity for the winter season. I prefer an over the knee boot as they suit me better. Get a pair of flat ones e.g a riding boot (a classic) or wellies for when it’s wet or snowy, or a pair of high heels for a dressy look.
So that’s my list! Do you agree?
