It’s been great to have some time at home and to spend more time on wellness and self-care. This month, I thought that I would put together a list of my beauty faves detailing what I’ve really enjoyed using over lockdown to look and feel great. All of these have been recommendations from friends or people on the internet – and I have to say they don’t disappoint. Let’s get started.
Spotlight Teeth Whitening System
Who doesn’t want white gnashers? My teeth have been yellowing over time and without the ability to visit the dentist, I thought that I would give this home whitening system a try. The system which has been developed by dentists comes with whitening toothpaste and strips and I can tell that over the 2 week course, there has been a marked improvement. My teeth are looking whiter and although I was expecting some sensitivity, I haven’t experienced any as yet. I think this will be a repeat purchase for me.
I have been wanting one of these for years, and with the huge selection of brands available, have never really known what to get. However, when I saw this hair steamer as recommended on Melissa’s Wardrobe and at a very affordable price of £15, I had to get it. I have used it every fortnight since purchase – it is small enough to store easily and also heats up well. While it isn’t a fancy product, it does exactly what it should do.
Kate Sommerville Wrinkle Warrior Hydration Gel
As you know, I am a firm believer that you can live your best life on a budget. Kate Sommerville is a luxury skincare brand, and as such, I wasn’t intending on buying this product any time soon. However, having spotted it at TK Maxx for £20 (usually retails at £80!), I decided to give it a try and found it to be what I needed for the summer. I particularly love its light formulation and find it to be very hydrating. It also doubles up as a great primer on the rare occasion that I wear some makeup.
Revlon Pro Collection Salon One Step Hair Dryer and Styler
I have always used my trusted Remington Pro Luxe blow dryer but as it doesn’t have a comb/brush attachment it becomes a bit clunky to use particularly when drying the hair that is at the back of my head. I stumbled across the Revlon hair dryer on Adeola Gboyega’s instagram highlights and having tried it, I have to say that it does cut the drying time by half. The dryer is extremely easy to use and with two heat settings and doesn’t get too hot which means heat damage is minimal.
A friend recommended I get this – it’s a great little set with a range of 16 mini gel nail colours as well as a top and base coat. I tend to stick to the neutral colours but with such a great variety, I can switch it up depending on my mood and time of the year. The polish does chip after about a week, but it applies really well and in my opinion provides value for money.
